Motivation // Mastering The Art of Getting Started!

Get Started On Anything

I’m always listening to podcasts or videos, while doing chores around the house. One of the recent videos talked about getting started on goals.

We all have things we’d like to accomplish, big goals that may seem difficult to reach.

In the video, they used the example of opening a restaurant as the big goal.

For someone who has never opened a restaurant those thoughts can be really intimidating.

They explained, the secret to achieving and making the long intimidating goal less scary was getting started. Starting by shrinking the goal, and focusing on what you can do today.

The 15 Min Action …

Shrink the goal of opening a restaurant. Start with researching and learning which takes the pressure off.

Making the goal appear smaller and learning more about it frees up the ability to get started.

There will always be an excuse to not take action. Use 15 minutes everyday to take action towards the goal. Research and learn about what it takes to open a restaurant.

The next day, take 15 minutes to learn from someone who has already done this.

These 15 minutes daily increments, will slowly get you closer to the goal. It also makes the goal at hand appear less intimidating and small.

Momentum …

Once you start completing these small tasks, you’ll feel momentum.

Momentum makes you feel like you’re moving forward, it helps you check off small tasks and it gives you a boost of confidence that you can do this.

Day in and day out this momentum you’ve built by completing 15 minute tasks will keep you focused.

Snowball Effect …

Big wins are in the little progress we make daily.

The snowball effect of completing these tasks, is that slowly you’re working towards getting the bigger goal, without the negative effects of overthinking.

We become more confident as do more and more of something that seemed difficult before. As you complete each small action you’ll be getting closer to your goal.

Visualization ….

Get Started On Anything

According to research, you can’t just write down you’re goals, yo have to imagine yourself taking the steps to get there.

Don’t just image the end goal, you have to image yourself through the journey.

Allow yourself to feel the emotions of getting there.

Visualize doing each task, like creating a business plan, finding a location for the restaurant, hiring the staff.

Feel the emotions as you would feel getting there, pride, excitement accomplishment.

Slowly, but surely you’ll accomplish what you set to do.

small smart choices + consistency + time = RADICAL DIFFERENCE
